Treat Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) with broccoli sprouts

What if I told you that it has been scientifically confirmed that autism spectrum disorder (ASD) can be treated by drinking a specific juice each day? We are talking about a solid improvement in a few months, without any toxic drugs or intrusive procedures, all in a completely natural way. All this is possible thanks to a wonderful phytonutrient called sulforaphane.

Sulforaphane is a phytonutrient that forms in cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower) only when the cells of these plants are “broken” in any way, for example when they are cut, chewed or passed in a juicer.

When the walls of plant cells are broken, two special compounds react with each other: an enzyme called myrosinase and a substance called glucoraphanin. The reaction between them transforms glucoraphanin into sulforaphane, a phytonutrient with powerful antioxidant and anticancer properties.

Moreover, chemically speaking, sulforaphane is a “mustard oil” (allyl isothiocyanate more particularly). This is the group of compounds that give broccoli and Brussels sprouts their unique (and somewhat bitter) taste and strong odor, which are supposed to repel pests and protect these plants from disease.

Now let’s go directly to the juicy part and see what sulforaphane has to do with autism spectrum disorders.

According to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the prevalence of ASD was about 1 in 68 children in 2012, and much higher in 2014, only two years later: 1 in 59 children.

Today, the prevalence of ASD could be much, much higher.

Autism spectrum disorders are characterized by significant behavioral limitations, as well as communication and social skills.

In addition to being a huge challenge for the family, ASDs are also a big economic concern. The worst thing is that we do not know exactly what is causing it.

We have some good assumptions, however. For example, studies indicate that autism may be the result of the body’s inability to form specific proteins from amino acids. These poorly formed proteins can trigger cell death, which would have different consequences depending on the organ in question.

In the heart, poorly folded (formed) proteins could trigger heart disease. In the brain, they could be the very cause of autism spectrum disorders. This is not surprising, as it has been known for some time that poorly folded pieces of protein can become triggers for diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease.

But do not panic right away: there may be a way to correct these poorly folded proteins with sulforaphane.
There is a good chance that you already know the unique anti-cancer and detoxifying properties of sulforaphane. In this article, we will focus on a completely different health issue: Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).

Specifically, there is strong evidence that sulforaphane helps to:

Correct misfolded proteins in the brain and significantly improve the folding of similar proteins in the future.
Effectively protect brain cells from oxidative stress by preventing their death due to damage from free radicals.
These two factors are thought to be important contributors to the development of ASD, so it is not surprising that sulforaphane helps to treat this condition!

For example, a study that ran from 2011 to 2013 determined whether a daily dose of sulforaphane improved autism symptoms in 29 young men aged 13 to 27 years after 18 weeks of supplementation.

The results were amazing.
Compared with the placebo group, boys who received sulforaphane experienced a 34% improvement in their behavior and a 17% improvement in their social skills!
But it was only the beginning.

In 2016, the same group of scientists from the study mentioned above decided to make contact with the families they had worked with. Who knows, perhaps sulforaphane could bring them improvements in the long run?

Scientists were able to contact 16 of the original 29 topics and here’s what they found:

5 boys stopped taking sulforaphane because of their parents’ decision (17% of the original group).
9 boys were still taking a sulforaphane supplement with a sustained improvement (31%).
One boy completely stopped taking sulforaphane because of lasting improvements over the last few years (3%) and one boy planned to return to sulforaphane (3%).
In other words, sulforaphane seems to significantly improve the symptoms of ASD in more than 30% of cases, and sometimes (3%) provides lasting relief even if they stopped taking it after a while! It’s much more than encouraging.

Here is a nice excerpt from this second study, a quote from the mother of one of the children who experienced the healing effect of sulforaphane:

I want to shout on the rooftops and tell people to give kids broccoli sprout extract because it literally changed my life. Now we can go to the cinema, the restaurant, the theater, on holiday with another family, at the church, at a concert, things that we could not do before are now possible.

Broccoli sprouts? Yes. It is the best source of sulforaphane in the world.

In a Facebook group of parents of autistic children who consume broccoli sprout juice, parents shared these messages:

Parent 1
“We are seeing a clear improvement. Today, he sat on the couch and watched television, never seen since the age of 3, he usually tour the living room. Brewing has also decreased by about 80%. I’m so happy! It’s with 3 days with minimal quantities, what will become of him when we have it at full dose? ”

Parent 2
“I started giving it to my sons two weeks ago and I can see amazing results. The language and understanding of the eldest son are getting very good, the school says it seems like a magic happened, its language and behavior are getting better every day, when I told them about the juice, they could not believe it.

The youngest son is no longer hyperactive as before, listening to my instructions and reacting. He looks very alert and uses a lot of new words! ”

Parent 3
“I give it to him before bedtime, and his sleep has improved. He sleeps deeper and longer. His speech has also improved. He was already quite verbal, but now his sentences are longer, he uses more vocabulary, he answers questions.

He never answered questions such as “why are you doing this?” He replied, “I do not know” and giggled! He has always struggled with “wh” issues, and he seems to be able to respond more frequently and more appropriately.

It initiates many more social interactions with family, neighbors, neighborhood children, etc.

His imaginative part is more elaborate. He can also explain what he plays, what he claims and why. Her overall mood improved, even during the transition from school to summer vacation. He is happier and tries to calm down to avoid mergers. ”

According to the study:

“The participants were dosed according to their body weight:

50 μmol (one capsule) of sulforaphane for <45 Kg
100 μmol (two capsules) for 46-90 Kg
150 μmol (three capsules) for> 90 Kg. ”
Read on to find out how you can easily achieve this amount of dosage for daily consumption.
Remember: There is absolutely NO sulforaphane in cruciferous vegetables: the only glucoraphanin is turned into sulforaphane when the plant is processed. Thus, the more glucoraphanin in a plant, the more it will provide sulforaphane when you consume it in juice, for example.

Glucoraphanin is present in broccoli, cauliflower, mustard, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, red cabbage, and almost all other cruciferous vegetables.

But here’s the best: studies show that 3-day broccoli sprouts contain 10 to 100 times more glucoraphanin than mature broccoli! Basically, you will get the same dose of glucoraphanin (and sulforaphane) from 30 g. Broccoli sprouts that you would otherwise get with 750 g. of the mature plant!

Another great thing about broccoli sprouts is that you can either grow them yourself or buy high-quality broccoli sprout juice from sulforaphane ready to drink if you prefer convenience or do not have time to wait.

We live in a wonderful time: every year brings new discoveries that reveal the power of natural healing! After all, who would have believed, twenty years ago, that one could fight cancer and reverse autism by drinking broccoli sprout juice?

Of course, it is important to be very picky about the quality of the juice if you want it to really work. To make sure you get enough sulforaphane, make sure to grow healthy broccoli sprouts or choose a reliable broccoli sprout juice maker that has been doing so for years!
